Three members of Chelsea's staff have been suspended after the Champions League trophy was damaged. It was reported that one of the handles was left hanging off after the three security personnel posed for pictures with the trophy. The damage was later noticed by a member of staff the following day and reported it to club officials.
The trophy was immediately sent to a London silversmith for emergency repairs following the incident at Stanford Bridge which happened when the staff were outside their normal shift hours.
A club spokesman said: "The (Champions League replica) trophy was accidentally damaged while pictures were being taken. It has been repaired."
You may recall that Roberto di Matteo's side beat Bayern Munich 4-3 on penalties in the Bavarian final last month for their first ever Champions League triumph.
