Youths in Eleme Local Government of Rivers state has this morning staged a protest to seek clear boundary demarcation with the Okirika Community. Issues of the bad state of the East West road and unemployment where part of the reasons for their agitation. As at the time of filing this report, roads into and out of Eleme is blocked and has constitute a huge traffic. The community will be playing host to an International Oil and Gas Trade and Invest Forum today which President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to attend.
Its been a difficult morning for us who take this route. I think the youths got it wrong on their aggitation agenda, I expected them to present the issues of lack of good infrastructure and social ammunities, espectialy the east-west road leading to Onne and servicing the oil and gas freezone, the air polution and environmental degredation caused by oil exploration and exploitation in their community!
